Roman Shutov, program director of the Detector Media NGO, announced this at a press conference in Kyiv, where the results of a sociological study “The Influence of Russian Propaganda on Public Opinion in Ukraine” were presented.
He said that respondents were asked whether they agreed with the statement that the war continues because it benefits the Ukrainian government and oligarchs.
“Pay attention to the figure: in total, it turns out that 67 percent of citizens think so. And here the distribution by region is practically irrelevant. Almost all regions equally agree with this. This does not mean that they do not hold Russia responsible. “The war continues because Russia does not withdraw its troops and does not stop supporting the DPR-LPR organizations” - a large percentage of the population also agrees with this. Only 14 percent disagree,” Shutov noted.
The survey was conducted by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology from December 3 to December 12, 2016. 2040 interviews were conducted with respondents living in 110 settlements of Ukraine (in territories controlled by the Ukrainian government). The study was carried out with financial support from the Swedish Embassy in Ukraine.
