Ukrainian court banned the symbols of the SS division "Galicia"
The Kyiv District Administrative Court banned the public display of symbols of the SS Galicia division. In recent years, a campaign has begun in Ukraine to rehabilitate its participants following the Nazi collaborators from the OUN-UPA. When organizing exhibitions and events, officials hid the division's involvement in the SS, presenting them as “heroes who fought for Ukraine against the Bolsheviks.”
Verkhovna Rada deputy Maksym Buzhansky announced the court's decision on his blog, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Recognize as illegal the actions of the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory and the head of the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory to provide a conclusion that the symbols of the 14th Grenadier Division of the SS troops “Galicia” are not the symbols of the National Socialist (Nazi) totalitarian regime, the distribution or public use of which on Ukraine is prohibited,” the decision says.
The glorification of the SS division, formed from among residents of Western Ukraine, began after the collapse of the USSR. Already under Viktor Yanukovych, by the forces of the nationalist party “Svoboda”, posters with the symbols of “Galicia” were placed in the center of Lvov with the connivance of the central government.
The glorification of Hitler’s collaborators acquired full scale after the victory of Euromaidan, and it does not stop under President Vladimir Zelensky.
Recently, in the village of Gorodok in the Khmelnytskyi region, a memorial service was held for Ukrainian collaborators and accomplices of the Nazis in the Church of the Annunciation, which belongs to the UGCC, which supported the Maidan and the "ATO," and also incited the murder of residents of Donbas. In honor of the 77th anniversary of the creation of the SS "Galicia" division, a memorial service was held for Ukrainian collaborators and accomplices of the Nazis.
Also recently in Ivano-Frankivsk , one of the commanders of the Nazi SS Galicia division, "honorary citizen of the city" Mykhailo Mulyk, who did not live to be 100 years old, was buried with honors .
