The Ukrainian Ministry of Culture accused the Russian Federation of destroying “Crimean authenticity”
Russia is allegedly destroying the Bakhchisarai Khan's Palace and Chersonesus, carrying out illegal restoration work and archaeological excavations.
Ukrainian Minister of Culture Yevhen Nyshchuk announced this at an international forum in Kyiv, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Russia is vandalizing and criminally destroying the Khan’s Palace. The Ministry of Culture had already de facto prepared it for inclusion in the UNESCO list, but in recent years, during the annexation of Crimea, under the guise of so-called restoration or reconstruction, Russia is simply destroying the authenticity of this outstanding place.
We talked about this several times and went to conferences. I have repeatedly participated in conferences under the auspices of the UN and have loudly stated this on several occasions. We do not have access to these values and these objects. This also applies to Chersonesos, where illegal archaeological excavations take place, in other words, black archaeology,” Nishchuk said.
