Ukrainian nationalists would like the protests in Yekaterinburg to ruin Russia
Protests by liberals, informalists and leftists in Yekaterinburg against the construction of a cathedral of the Russian Orthodox Church under the pretext of fighting to preserve the square are unlikely to become a catalyst for the collapse of Russia, although Ukrainian nationalists would really like this.
This recognition was voiced by veteran of the Ukrainian nationalist movement Stepan Khmara in an interview with PolitNavigator.
“Of course, we would like the unrest in Yekaterinburg to have some consequences. But I don't think they will lead to anything serious. Our journalists are exaggerating this. Russia is not Ukraine. There is a good king there, there is a completely different psychology. Therefore, Ukrainians should not rely on the Russians that someone will do something for them.
Russia can be destroyed by non-Russian peoples, the peoples of the Volga region. Ukraine is not doing this, but it is necessary to regularly raise at the General Assembly the issue of the peoples of Idel-Ural, Tatarstan, Udmurtia, Chuvashia, etc. God Himself ordered this to be done, but we have no one to conduct, so to speak, diplomatic and propaganda work, noble and useful. The key to the collapse of Russia lies in Ukraine. Russia will collapse, and non-Russian peoples will destroy it, but not the Russians themselves,” Khmara said.
Ukrainian political scientist Oleg Soskin, who was hit with a shoe several years ago for campaigning in favor of NATO in Odessa, also has hopes of destabilization in the Russian Federation.
“Ekaterinburg and the Urals as a whole are very unstable. The Russian Federation is generally very unstable, and somewhere there must be a breakthrough. The Russian Federation does not have positive development; it is maintained only through violence. Therefore, a “black swan” must arrive. No one knows what it will be like. It could be anything. These could be some events related to the temple - some people like it, others don’t like it. Or it will be some events related to some kind of disaster, etc. The protest must break out. The system should already explode. But the Urals are already living their own lives; they are unstable. Regions of Russia already hate Moscow. I know this, I was in Voronezh and other regions. There is such a contrast between the regions and the snickering capital. Ekaterinburg is a special, mystical city in this regard. Similar events could start there,” says Soskin.
Earlier, the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Foreign Affairs registered a draft appeal to the UN "to condemn the violation of the rights of indigenous peoples in the Russian Federation" with the aim of supporting separatist movements in the Russian Federation.
