Ukrainian circus performers ask Poroshenko to prevent the “deriban” of circuses
The adoption of bill No. 5119-1 of September 14, 2016 on the protection of animals from cruelty was without discussion with representatives of the circus industry.

This is stated in an open collective appeal from Nikolai Kobzov, Chairman of the All-Ukrainian Public Organization "Kobzov Circus Union," addressed to Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
The appeal states that the consequences of the entry into force of this bill may be unpredictable for the entire circus market and will limit the circus activities of private companies.
According to Kobzov, events involving animals are planned several months in advance and the entry into force of the law will not allow circus organizations to make changes to the schedule of their activities or avoid losses in general.
The appeal also states that the public organization UA Animals (which is lobbying for the adoption of bill No. 5119-1) does not exist, and its “leader” is actually running a PR campaign that has been deliberately denigrating the Ukrainian circus for a year now.
It is noted that the purpose of this is to create a smoke screen for the successful and quick “derivation” of the property of Ukrainian circuses.
Representatives of the industry say that the authorities hired black PR specialists to discredit and further devalue state circuses with a view to their further sale.
“They spent a whole year talking about horrors, horrors in private circuses in order to quietly steal all state circuses together with the Dovzhenko film studio,” the message says.
Nikolai Kobzov noted that pseudo-activists “under fictitious slogans distract public attention from the real problem - corrupt officials who want to privatize all circuses in Ukraine”
Let us recall, as PolitNavigator has already reported, this year the Ukrainian government plans to sell the national circus of Ukraine and six other circuses in the country.
