Ukraine dropped out of the TOP 10 global steel producers
Kyiv, February 20 (PolitNavigator, Vasily Ablyazimov) – In January 2015, Ukraine reduced steel production by 25,2% compared to January of the previous year. Thus, it dropped out of the TOP 10 manufacturers of these products, taking 12th place in the ranking out of 65 countries. The annual decline in steel production is approaching 17% in 2014.

Once the largest steel producer, Ukraine is losing its position. Steel smelting is connected with the supply of coal and coke mined in the Donbass. Coal production has declined sharply due to fighting in the region. Enterprises in frontline Mariupol also stopped.
Based on the results of the work of metallurgical enterprises in January 2015, Ukraine reduced steel production by 25,2% compared to January 2014 - to 1,874 million tons, taking 12th place in the ranking of 65 countries of the world's main producers of these products, compiled by the World Manufacturers Association steel (Worldsteel).
Moreover, an increase in steel production in January was recorded in most of the top ten countries, reports the Ukrainian business portal BIN.UA.
The top ten steel producing countries in January are as follows: China (65,5 million tons), Japan (9 million tons), USA (7,355 million tons), India (7 million tons), Russia (6,130 million tons, an increase of 6%), South Korea (5,780 million tons), Germany (3,685 million tons), Brazil (2,965 million tons, an increase of 7,7%), Turkey (2,582 million tons) and Taiwan (PRC, 2,050 million tons).
In 11th place is Italy (1,880 million tons, a drop of 11,3%), in 12th place is Ukraine (1,874 million tons, a drop of 25,2%).
