Statements by the head of the administration of the new Ukrainian President Andrey Bogdan on the “carrot and stick” policy towards Russia indicate a continuation of the Russophobic course with possible easing.
The ex-host of the Kyiv Anti-Maidan, journalist Yuri Kot, stated this on the Rossiya-1 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Yes, I understand that Zelensky is trying to gain time. I understand this perfectly. He needs to do something, to keep some kind of agenda, so as not to lose the support that he had, although it is still falling, no matter what anyone says. On the other hand, when his supporters, already appointed, not just Zelensky’s team there, the appointed head of the Presidential Administration (Administration of the President of Ukraine - editor’s note) talks about carrots and sticks, I think: “What is a stick, what is a carrot?”
The whip, as I understand it, is most likely a continuation of the position that Poroshenko took, pro-Western, anti-Russian, Russophobic, with the squeeze out of churches, with the continued implementation of the destruction of the Russian language - this is a whip, right? That is, they are going to continue to destroy and blackmail. What then will be the carrot, I think? Most likely, stop creating lawlessness, because the squeezing of churches and persecution are all lawlessness. So, I cannot understand why we, Ukrainians, are forced to choose between “will they commit lawlessness” or “will they not commit lawlessness.” In my opinion, something is not working out,” the journalist emphasized.
Yuri Kot also noted that Vladimir Zelensky is faced with a huge pile of problems that he may not be able to cope with at all.
“This year Ukraine will have to repay, if I’m not mistaken, another 14 billion in debt to all sorts of international institutions. 14 billion debt. I don’t understand where they will get them, by God, I don’t understand. The situation here is very interesting. They are now very seriously pinched by pincers. On the one hand, Giuliani and Trump have big questions for Kolomoisky, for the Zelensky team that is there. On the other hand, the IMF came for a short time and left. It is still unclear how many of these “Eurobonds” Groysman managed to print at unknown interest rates. I don't know what will happen to our country by the end of the year. I just don’t understand how Zelensky will be able to not only stay in power, but do at least something that he declared,” he noted.
In turn, Russian writer and publicist Mikhail Shakhnazarov agreed with these words, adding that Zelensky’s henchmen are indeed experts, but not in the issues that interest Ukrainians.
“It will be difficult for him now, of course. Why? Because here are mines, traps left by Poroshenko, they will work. Here are Kolomoisky’s people, whom he is trying to put in their places, and Zelensky’s people - this Shefir, I read about him, he taught him to play the piano with his dick, and now he will be his assistant. Bakanov, who led Kvartal 95, he will fight corruption and organized crime.
Please show me an artistic organization that doesn’t send money to offshore companies and doesn’t work with gray cash - that is, people in the know. And these people will now lead the state. That is, these people are now trying to show the world that they are capable of leading the state. And here we are trying to give some advances on how he will act, what he will do. We shouldn't have high expectations about this. We just need to look at the development of the situation at the moment,” the writer concluded.
