At the Boryspil state airport, built at public expense for Euro 2012, all ground services are transferred to private companies directly or indirectly associated with the oligarch and governor of the Dnipropetrovsk region Igor Kolomoisky.

Journalists claim that the new general director of the airport, Evgeniy Dykhne, did not have time to take his place, literally a month later, by his order, he refused ground handling, that is, technical maintenance of aircraft of various airlines, in favor of private companies. The refusal occurred in favor of Interavia, owned by Igor Kolomoisky’s UIA, and Aerohandling, associated with the oligarch. In addition, Boryspil is going to unilaterally abandon passenger service in favor of private companies. Such actions threaten mass layoffs of workers at the airport, while private companies will rent airport equipment. The new general director Evgeniy Dykhne, appointed by the Yatsenyuk government, claims that ground handling of aircraft brings a loss, while workers of the trade union of the Boryspil International Airport only talk about net profit for 9 months of more than 2 million UAH.

Kolomoisky needs the appropriation of aircraft handling services not so much for the sake of this money as for the monopolization of air transportation in Ukraine. Kolomoisky himself has been involved in numerous scandals in the country's aviation market over the years.

So far, the story of the seizure of aircraft ground handling services at the Boryspil airport has ended with a temporary suspension of this process and a change of general director. This became possible thanks to the coordinated actions of the airport workers' union and employee protests. It is very difficult to predict how events will develop further.
