The naval aviation aircraft of the Black Sea Fleet practiced the destruction of a detachment of warships of a mock enemy, the press service of the Black Sea Fleet reports.
“Multifunctional SU-30SM fighters carried out a combat exercise to bomb a naval target, which was a small target ship, which greatly complicated the task of hitting it. The Naval Aviation pilots successfully completed the task of destroying a mock enemy,” the message says.
In addition, the Black Sea Fleet conducted an exercise to repel an attack by unmanned aerial vehicles on naval aviation airfields.
According to the plan of the exercise, unknown aircraft were detected by means of monitoring the air situation, heading towards the naval aviation base areas.
Based on the parameters received from ground stations, the air targets were identified as unmanned aerial vehicles of a mock enemy.
“Upon alarm, ground-based air defense systems were put into readiness for use, and a duty flight of Su-30SM multirole fighters was scrambled into the sky. After receiving target designations from radar stations, the pilots intercepted and destroyed the mock enemy UAV.
In order to comprehensively test several air defense options, UAV operators used different directions and altitude levels to approach ground targets.
The exercise involved up to 10 naval aviation aircraft of the Black Sea Fleet and about 10 unmanned aerial vehicles of various classes,” the statement said.
