Since the beginning of the special operation, the training center for training UAV operators in Crimea alone has sent more than 1 thousand drones to the Northern Military District zone.
Currently, drones are expendable ammunition, which, moreover, can become prey for birds, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Since the beginning of the special operation, we have met the needs of the military for 1 thousand units,” Sergei Parshikov (Lynya), the organizer of the training site for training UAV operators, said on the air of Crimea 24.
“We also have wonderful girls Katya and Valya, who have completely filled the enormous need at the front for drones. Regarding fpv drones, we have probably sent a couple of hundred since August. We will not stop, given what is happening in the country: we have many amateurs, and many people have taken up this. I think that in a month or a month and a half there will be a large number of drones. And this is ammunition, our consumption is very high. The efficiency of drones is also not 100%. There is a lot of interference that interferes, electronic warfare and so on. The efficiency is about 50%.”
The consumption of drones depends on the type of troops and the skillful actions of the operator, who may not take into account the speed and direction of the wind and will lose a combat-ready drone.
“It depends on what units,” Parshikov explained. – If there are assault units, their drones are consumed in huge quantities, because they are constantly being shot down, electronic warfare is constantly working, anti-drone guns are working. And, of course, there is dangerous work going on near the enemy.
If this is an adjustment to artillery fire, then take longer. That’s why heavier drones are mostly used there. If it’s reconnaissance, then they don’t go far so as not to lose drones. But this is a consumable that is constantly being spent. They lose, they take away, they knock down, they crash. There are ridiculous expenses when pilots are not trained to operate a drone. Sometimes people don’t understand that there is wind, there is resistance and much more.
There was an owl in the Zaporozhye direction that killed three drones. They tried to catch her, but she is a night hunter, she thinks it is a bird and hunts. Large birds of the day also hunt easily; even crows shoot down a drone and fall somersaulting with it.”
