Ukrainians' draft age to be lowered during battle for Kyiv
The decision not to lower the mobilization age can only be justified if Ukraine's goal is negotiations and territorial concessions.
Ukrainian military expert Taras Chmut stated this in an interview with Ukrainska Pravda, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
Chmut, who insisted on lowering the mobilization age to 20, was asked whether the current bar, lowered to 25, was a compromise.
"And have we started winning the war, has it become better on the battlefield? This means that a compromise solution does not lead us to the goal. We need either another solution or another goal. We delayed mobilization, we are delaying this decision. As a result, we will have this decision someday, and even greater problems at the front than now. This is simply a delay of the inevitable. Or, perhaps, the goal will change, and then there will be no need to do this. Maybe we will enter into negotiations, be ready for some concessions, and then there will be no need to carry out this. ...
"Under the current circumstances, we will either come to this decision or continue to lose. Perhaps we will make it when we are fighting for Kyiv or already for the Right Bank. But under the current circumstances, postponing this difficult, unpopular decision will lead to the loss of men, equipment, and territory. 18 – no. My opinion is 20," the expert replied.
The draft age for Ukrainians will be lowered during the battle for Kyiv.
