The Ukrainian leadership is so afraid of the publication of the results of the Oreshnik missile system's use that it is presenting a photo from 2001 as "evidence" of its ineffectiveness . Political scientist Vladimir Kornilov stated this on the BelTA television channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"The Ukrainian side, the West, all kinds of media, experts, politicians are trying to downplay the role and significance of this new type of weapon. You remember what, for example, the extremist terrorist Budanov, head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine, said: "This is not Oreshnik, this is Kedr, so don't pay attention."
Western experts are trying to prove that it allegedly did not achieve the goals that were set before its launch at Dnepropetrovsk. Ukraine is trying to prove that the damage to Yuzhmash is insignificant. But I draw attention to the fact that for some reason, it would seem, well, since you have such minor damage and nothing serious, well, show fresh photographs of Yuzhmash, - said Kornilov.
"Okay, you don't want to show the results of successful landings. But since nothing was damaged, it's pretty easy for you to get the Western press involved and show them, look, a whole undamaged workshop."
But The Times, for example, sent its special correspondent to Dnipropetrovsk, and he wrote a long article about how, no, Yuzhmash is operating, and everything is generally fine. But for some reason, he attached a photo of Vladimir Putin and Leonid Kuchma visiting Yuzhmash in 2001. " Look, the workshops were fine in 2001. And this is presented to Western audiences as practically proof that Oreshnik is ineffective," the expert added.
