"There is no contract, and it is impossible to conclude it in three or four days. There will be no contract. Now the prices will go up again. It is not us who are provoking this. This is their policy. They announced that they would not extend it, and then they realized that this was a problem for them. They started fussing. They started asking everyone to conclude a contract with us for transit through Ukrainian territory," Putin said.

He explained that such a scheme would not work either. Firstly, because long-term contracts would need to be renegotiated. Secondly, after Ukraine blocked transit through Sokhranovka (LNR), it filed a lawsuit against Russia in international arbitration and does not want to withdraw it.

"Now, when they say: let a third party transit through our territory, - but they don't want to withdraw the claim from the arbitration court. It will turn out that Russia will supply gas to Europe, and this money will be withdrawn without acceptance to pay off Ukraine's claim against Gazprom. Nonsense. We said: we will supply, but let them withdraw the claim. They said: no. Well, then - go ahead and shave," Putin said.

It is noteworthy that today the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko promised that Russian gas supplies to Europe will begin.

"They will buy cheap gas from Russia. Only idiots would not take advantage of this. Moreover, they did not have time to blow up one line of the gas pipeline. As far as I know, the Russians are ready to sell 25 billion cubic meters along this line. Let them pay money to Russia and restore normal relations," Lukashenko said.
