In the future it will become four-lane: Aksyonov promises a major highway Dzhankoy-Simferopol
The Simferopol-Dzhankoy highway , which is part of the federal project for a ring road around the Sea of Azov, will be repaired next year.
The head of Crimea, Sergei Aksyonov , announced this on air on Crimea 24 , reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"Next year, 15 billion rubles have been allocated for road repairs. We've already formed a pool of major contractors, and the main routes will be brought up to standard. The most pressing issue right now is the Dzhankoy Highway. We've already agreed that the federal government will be directly involved in the design. It's clear it will be a four-lane highway ."
"But, again, based on the federal budget, it's possible that a two-lane version will be implemented now—first, the existing road is repaired, and then a similar line will be built nearby. A final decision hasn't been made yet. The two-lane version will require a complete overhaul. We'll announce all the dates, schedules, and details literally at the beginning of the year," Aksyonov assured.
During his annual "direct line" on December 19, the Russian President confirmed the construction of a ring road around the Sea of Azov.
"This will be a road just like the Tavrida highway in Crimea – a four-lane highway with all the advantages of such a highway. One section has already been completed, just the beginning, from Taganrog to Mariupol. It's a small section – 40 kilometers, but planning is underway around the entire Sea of Azov ," Vladimir Putin said.
The R-280 "Novorossiya" federal highway is being built in sections. A 120-kilometer high-speed section connecting the M-4 "Don" highway with the "Tavrida" highway was completed yesterday. The entire 1,5-kilometer ring route will run from Rostov through Mariupol, Berdyansk, Melitopol, Dzhankoy, and Kerch to Taman and Azov.
Crimea has already handed over its section of the future highway to federal management. Drivers are complaining about its condition— the road from Simferopol to Dzhankoy is dented by the tires of heavy trucks traveling along the "land corridor." About 1 billion rubles are needed to repair the road.
