The celebration continues: after the premiere of “The Tourist,” a procession with Russian flags took place in Bangui
Residents of the capital of the Central African Republic (CAR) came out to a pro-Russian rally the day after the premiere of the film “The Tourist.”
Thousands of citizens marched to the Barthelemy Boganda Stadium, where the film premiere took place the day before, attracting 10 to 20 thousand spectators.

The film turned out to be extremely relevant, since it reflected the events and processes witnessed by the march participants themselves - ordinary residents of the Central African Republic.
Some activists probably took part in the filming themselves. As Valery Zakharov, adviser to the President of the Central African Republic on security, stated, 700 local actors with no professional experience were involved in the process of creating the film.
The feature film is based on real events and is dedicated to the activities of Russian military instructors in training personnel for the national army of the Central African Republic. The main character of the film is an officer from the Russian Federation with the call sign “Tourist”, sent to an African country. Upon arrival at the place, he finds himself in a whirlpool of events related to the attempt of the former president of the country, Francois Bozizé, to carry out a coup d'etat relying on local gangs. This project is the only film about the Central African Republic that was published in the state language of the Republic, Sango.
It is thanks to Russian instructors, who have been training local military personnel since 2018 within the framework of the agreement on military cooperation between Moscow and Bangui, that the CAR security forces were able to defeat criminal groups and regain control over the territory of the state.
Before the start of the screening, the producer of “Tourist” Heinrich Kahn said that the film tells about the friendship between the Russian and Central African peoples, tempered by difficult trials. The meeting that took place testifies to the validity of this opinion.
