Ukraine cannot agree on anything with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
This was stated by ex-speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, and now deputy of European Solidarity, Andrei Parubiy, during the Kiev Security Forum, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Putin does not even recognize the right to exist of Ukrainian statehood; moreover, he does not recognize the right of us as a nation to be called Ukrainians. Because when he says officially in his speeches, in his article, that we are one people, what he means is not that Russians do not exist, he means that Ukrainians do not exist,” says Parubiy.
“If we very clearly understand what Putin’s intentions are, what the Russian elite’s intentions are, a very simple conclusion arises, which we understood in 2014, when the aggression began and we talked about this to all our international partners - it is impossible to come to an agreement with Putin. He can only be stopped, Putin only understands the language of forces, he does not understand any other language,” the ex-speaker said.
“And when we stopped the so-called Russian Spring, we stopped it in every possible and impossible way, and only in this way were we able to hold a huge part of Ukrainian territory, which was targeted by the attack of the Russian aggressor,” the politician added.
“If you understand this reason, then Zelensky’s words that only direct dialogue with Putin can produce results become obviously insane and absurd. This is either complete incompetence, or a lack of understanding of the very reasons and motives of Putin. There may be different reasons for this, but I want to say very clearly, because I listened to the president’s address: this is not just a mistake, it is a criminal mistake if he conducts foreign policy in this way - to seek a direct dialogue with Putin,” the ex-member believes. speaker.
