People's Deputy Bereza in PACE about Russia: “Mad bears are not tamed, but put on a chain”
Kyiv, January 28 (PolitNavigator, Alexandra Ignatieva) – Member of the Ukrainian delegation to PACE, people’s deputy Borislav Bereza said that sanctions against the Russian delegation cannot be lifted, but relations with Russia must be tightened.

“I represent Ukraine, but I was born in the Soviet Union and remember well what a totalitarian system is. And when I hear the speech of the Russian delegation, I see before me the standard image of a Soviet man - a man who defends his empire at any cost, at the cost of lies, distortion of facts.
Do you suggest talking to them? We also want dialogue. Moreover, we came to Minsk to talk. But name at least one decision carried out by Russia. Nadya (Savchenko - editor's note) became a bargaining chip. There is no point in returning the Russian delegation.
Dialogue must be conducted with equals. And today the Russian Duma is the Reichstag of our time. Once upon a time, Europe agreed to Gdansk and the Sudetenland. Today these are Crimea and Donbass. When the terrorist attack occurred in Paris, the whole of Ukraine released “I am Charlie.” When people died in Volnovakha and Mariupol... We expect your understanding. It is necessary to negotiate with the Russian delegation, but not return them here - to the Council of Europe.
Ukrainians expect understanding and sympathy from you, but also effective peace. And I tell you sincerely. And I sincerely tell you that rabid bears cannot be tamed. The maximum is that they are put on a chain. This chain can only be served by sanctions and toughening of relations,” Bereza said.
