Debt on subsidies for utility bills in Ukraine is growing, the trend threatens that housing and communal services enterprises will not be able to prepare for winter, and with the onset of cold weather, the country will face a man-made disaster.
This warning was voiced at a press conference in Kyiv by economist Alexander Okhrimenko, president of the Ukrainian Analytical Center.
“As I understand it, everyone is hoping for a warm winter. If the winter is cold, there will be a man-made disaster. Some cities may simply freeze - not because they have a bad mayor. Not only did they do nothing in the summer, but in the winter they may simply have neither coal nor gas. Hot water without coal and gas cannot be achieved on slogans alone,” says the expert.
