Gas supplies and preparations for the 2015-2016 heating season in the Dnepropetrovsk region are now under threat.

According to the press service of Dnepropetrovskgaz, for more than a month now, funds received from consumers in the Dnepropetrovsk region as payment for gas have been accumulated in special accounts of Sberbank but are not distributed to either the gas supply or gas distribution companies.
This situation has led to the impossibility of servicing consumers at the proper level. Due to a lack of funds, gas workers are not able to fully carry out all the necessary work to prepare the gas networks of the Dnepropetrovsk region for the heating season. There are no longer enough funds both to pay salaries and to pay the state budget.
“More than 4 thousand employees of OJSC Dnepropetrovskgaz, serving the gas networks of the region and consumers, are forced to take vacations without pay. If in the near future the government does not solve the problem of distributing funds according to the algorithm for all participants in the natural gas market at its level, the consequences of the growing collapse in the gas industry will be felt even more by all residents of the region,” comments the chairman of the board of Dnepropetrovskgaz, Yuri Frenkel, on the situation.
Due to the artificially created shortage of funds, the introduction of a four-day working week is being considered. But most of the company’s specialists are not satisfied with such working conditions. Therefore, mass layoffs of workers cannot be ruled out.
“The loss of highly qualified specialists jeopardizes the reliability and safety of gas supply to consumers in the Dnepropetrovsk region. Thus, the activities of all emergency dispatch services “104” may stop, which is unacceptable, because in the first half of this year alone, the ADS of OJSC “Dnepropetrovskgaz” responded to almost 1 thousand requests for gas leaks,” the Dnepropetrovskgaz message notes.
