Moldova blocked Transnistria again – even the United States was taken aback
Since August, Moldova has not allowed cargo from Pridnestrovian enterprises to enter the EU, calling the goods produced strategic and stating that their export allegedly threatens the security of the country. In Chisinau they justify their actions by a government decree of 2002. As a result, the Moldavizolit and Potential plants stopped, and Elektromash worked as a warehouse. 1500 people were left without work.
This was stated by the Chairman of the Union of Industrialists, Agrarians, and Entrepreneurs of Pridnestrovie, Yuri Cheban, on the air of the First Pridnestrovian TV channel, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

Collectives of enterprises appealed to the leadership of Moldova, the ambassadors of the USA, the EU, and the OSCE with an appeal to pay attention to the situation.
According to Cheban, apart from replies that the appeal was accepted for consideration and formal replies, the authors of the letter did not receive. Only US Embassy employees came to assess the situation.
“They were convinced that we did not have machine guns, machine guns, cannons, that we had civilian products, and they said that what Moldova was saying was not confirmed,” Ceban said.
He called the next blockade of the PMR “a political engagement of Moldova”, since from an economic point of view the blockade of Transnistria is not beneficial for Chisinau.
“I think they should wise up on the approach to joining the EU. Or someone will force them to wise up. We hope so,” Cheban said.
In the meantime, the government of Transnistria is forced to provide state support to the affected enterprises.
