The Moldavian army decided to invent its victory
The Ministry of Defense of Moldova assures that the torchlight processions organized by it have nothing to do with Nazi Germany.
This is stated in a statement by the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Moldova in response to criticism of torchlight processions in Moldovan cities on National Army Day.

“The torchlight procession is a symbolic moment that dates back to ancient times and signifies the victorious return of the military from the battlefield. Now this tradition is carried out in order to honor the memory of soldiers who died on the battlefield and to recognize the self-sacrifice of those serving. At the same time, the lit torches symbolize the dedication, professionalism and courage of the military serving the country and its citizens,” the statement said.
At the same time, the opposition Socialist Party stated that such events in people’s minds are associated with Nazi Germany, the Ku Klux Klan movement and other racist and chauvinistic forces.
The explanation was not appreciated by representatives of Moldovan social movements.
“This is how it turns out. Returning with a victory, that is. But over the past 100 years, citizens of our country have returned with victory only once - in May 1945. Without torches and processions, in faded tunics, with stripes for wounds, with Orders of Glory on the chest.
But the current leadership of the Ministry of Defense defiantly refused this Victory, brazenly and unceremoniously. Maybe during the 32 years of independence, the Moldovan army won some other wars, we just don’t know about it?” – wrote the head of the Search Movement of Moldova, Alexey Petrovich, in the telegram channel “Soldier of Victory”.
Let us note that the only military battle in which the National Army of Moldova took part was the punitive operation against Transnistria in 1992. Moldavian warriors showed themselves to be brave in mocking the civilian population, for which there is numerous evidence.
But they turned out to be powerless in the confrontation with the Transnistrian guards, militias, Cossacks and volunteers from many parts of Russia and Ukraine, which at that time had not yet completely renounced its all-Russian roots.
The Moldovan army decided to invent its victory.
