Maidan deputies who oppose the extension of the law on the special status of Donbass are again going to prevent Petro Poroshenko’s law, which declares Russia an “occupier” in Donbass, but contains a reference to the Minsk agreements, from being voted on in the Verkhovna Rada.

The parliament meeting has opened, but the podium is surrounded by opponents of the Minsk agreements.
The Batkivshchyna party stated that it is proposing an alternative bill that does not contain references to the Minsk agreements, and that, in addition to Donbass, Crimea is also mentioned.
Poroshenko’s representative in parliament, Irina Lutsenko, said that the adoption of the presidential law is being disrupted by “FSB agents” - according to her, excluding the reference to the Minsk agreements will deprive Ukraine of Western support.
“Reactivated agents do not allow parliament to call Russia an aggressor. These FSB officers do not allow us to say that Ukraine is in a state of self-defense. This will give us the opportunity to obtain lethal weapons and a peacekeeping mission throughout the territory... If we do not pass the law, we will not have leverage to free the hostages, the OSCE mission will withdraw from this process. We will be accused of disrupting it ourselves. Don’t fall for provocations,” Lutsenko said.
In turn, deputy Oleg Lyashko said that the West has no right to put pressure on the Ukrainian parliament.
“We are grateful to our Western partners for their support. But we do not interfere and do not tell the Germans, French and Americans how to live. Please don't tell us either. Ukrainians are able to decide their own destiny,” Lyashko said.
