This was stated at a press conference in Simferopol by the acting. Head of the Republic Sergei Aksenov.
According to him, self-defense showed its effectiveness during the preparation and holding of the Referendum on March 16 in Crimea.
“Recently, thanks to self-defense, more than 50% of all crimes have been prevented. They, among other things, work at checkpoints, inspect equipment and vehicles,” the head of government noted.
He also added that, despite the demands of the Majlis that there should be no self-defense during the funeral rally on May 18 in the center of Simferopol, the fighters will not leave the streets of the city:
“These are not enemies of the Crimean Tatars; the Crimean self-defense has never engaged in provocations. In this case, they are serving to protect public order, and will continue to do so, regardless of how individual leaders of the Mejlis feel about this,” emphasized Sergei Aksenov.
