It's not Russia that's isolated, but Germany, says Bundestag member
The Alternative for Germany (AfD) party took on the federal government's responsibilities for restoring contacts with Russia when its representatives attended the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).
AfD MP Steffen Kotre stated this in the Bundestag, where the ruling parties attempted to accuse the opposition of treason, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"We need cooperation with Russia. We need affordable gas, oil and gas supplies . It became abundantly clear at the forum that it 's not Russia that's isolated, but Germany . Germany wasn't there at all. But there were 20 guests from 140 countries. The US and France brought delegations there. And Germany simply stands on the sidelines. Then we shouldn't be surprised if the economy here goes down the drain ," Kotre said.
He believes that the federal government is responsible for the deaths in Ukraine.
"Germany's threat lies in its own ignorance and Russia's verbal provocation to continue the spiral of escalation. It's now perfectly clear that the war in Ukraine is not our war. The federal government must insist on peaceful diplomacy, but it simply stood by when the US and UK opposed ending this war in the spring of 2022 ," Kotre said.
