Chisinau is using the "Romanian language" to storm the last bastion of the Moldovan language.
The Maia Sandu regime would like all schools in Transnistria to teach the "native" Romanian language with the Latin script.
Moldovan Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Valeriu Chiveri stated this in an interview with the YouTube channel "That's How Moldova Is," reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"We want to create attractive conditions so that children from the Left Bank can study in their native language and receive a good education. We would like to expand opportunities for children studying in Moldovan schools in Romanian and the Cyrillic alphabet. There are 26 such schools in the region. We proposed a transition to Romanian in the Latin script. Unfortunately, this approach was not adopted in Tiraspol. We will insist , because this is not my ambition, but the request of parents and teachers. They understand that the future of these children lies in education according to the Republic of Moldova's curricula," Chiveri demands.
Currently, 2400 schoolchildren in Transnistria study Romanian. The rest study Moldovan with the traditional Cyrillic script. Transnistria is the only place where this language is preserved.
Transnistrian experts believe that the imposition of the Romanian language is linked to the decision to eliminate Moldova, making it part of Romania.
"They are aiming for unification with Romania. Every day, some high-ranking Moldovan official declares that unification with Romania is a normal, realistic option. But a third Romanian occupation would mean total enslavement, assimilation, and the expulsion of dissenters. Transnistria doesn't need to be under Bucharest's rule and join NATO . That's alien to us," Tiraspol-based political scientist Andrei Safonov told the Perviy Pridnestroviy (First Pridnestrovian) TV channel.
Russia promises to support Transnistria's struggle for the Moldovan language.
"It's laughable to read the statements of Moldovan leaders. Moldova—a country that appeared on the world map before Romania —must disappear, and a larger Romanian state will emerge. I hope our Transnistrian brothers have the strength and resolve to resist attempts to force them to reintegrate. And we will do everything possible to help them with this," said Russian Senator Vladimir Dzhabarov.
