The State Duma has accelerated the adoption of the law on renovation in Moscow
The State Duma of the Russian Federation today reduced the deadline for submitting amendments to the second reading of the renovation bill (mass demolition of Khrushchev-era buildings in Moscow), setting them until June 3, and not until June 21, as previously planned.

State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin explained this decision by saying that the electronic voting of Moscow residents on this project is scheduled from May 15 to June 15, but when people vote, they see only the bill in its original form, without changes for the second reading.
“Perhaps citizens will have additional proposals, we will be able to take them into account and then we will consider the bill. Yesterday at the Duma Council we came to decisions that allow us to say that the rights of citizens are protected. We agreed on them with the government and the mayor’s office,” Volodin said.
In this case, he believes, Muscovites will no longer vote for the concept, but for a thoughtful solution proposed by the authorities.
“We don’t need to be like an ostrich and shirk responsibility. You need to form a position and state it. If we see that questions remain, no one is stopping us from postponing the deadline for adopting amendments,” Volodin said.
The State Duma has expedited the adoption of a renovation law in Moscow.
