The head of Naftogaz of Ukraine buys an armored Mercedes for protection against Putin
The Naftogaz of Ukraine company, despite the crisis and budget deficit, announced a tender for the purchase of an armored Mercedes vehicle for 5 million hryvnia (about 200 thousand US dollars).
This is stated in a message on the government procurement portal.

Energy market expert Dmitry Marunich sarcastically noted that officials would most likely blame the expensive purchase on the emergency conditions of “Russian aggression” and the need to ensure the security of Naftogaz head Andrei Kobolev.
Marunich added that even Viktor Yanukovych, whose regime in Ukraine today is referred to only as “criminal power,” did not dare to squander money on such a scale in much more prosperous times.
“If you don’t buy an armored Mercedes, then Putin will come and kill Kobolev, and then all of us. I can really imagine how the bloody tyrant in Rostov laughs when he reads the news. He never imagined for a second that this was possible. But it’s possible,” comments Marunich.
