This was reported by Valery Zavorotny, CEO of the Scientific and Production Enterprise Niva LLC. According to him, the plant exports wine to 14 countries, and Russia previously accounted for 70% of exports. "Back in the spring, we learned about the opportunity to enter European markets and were very excited. We signed agreements with Poland and the Baltic countries. However, we then learned that the EU has a regulation that only allows the bottling of EU wine. How Germany circumvents this by bottling Chilean wines is unknown to us, but the market remains effectively closed to us," he noted, as quoted by the publication Reporter.
According to a representative of the winery, today products have to be sent to Russia not through Crimea, but through Kharkov, and exports have decreased three times.
As PolitNavigator reported, Moldovan authorities previously acknowledged that the EU is in no hurry to open its market to Moldovan producers.
The European Union smiled and turned down Ukrainian winemakers.
