Former Ambassador of Ukraine to the USA: “What is the use of the EU. We want to join an alliance of nuclear powers!”
Ukraine's accession to the EU does not matter until Kyiv is given security guarantees by the nuclear powers of the collective West.
The ex-ambassador of Ukraine to the United States, Valery Chaly, stated this on Radio NV, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“We are focusing more on the EU, and they are jumping on it. And Annalena Bärbock, the German Foreign Ministry, when asked directly what security guarantees could be for Ukraine, said: “Accession to the EU, candidacy for the EU, the path to the EU, this is Europe’s insurance policy for us.”
I am categorically against posing the question in this way - tell someone else. We have already seen these “insurance policies”, the Budapest Memorandums and everything else. We need membership in an alliance of nuclear powers and common defense,” the diplomat said.
“NATO is not NATO, not this. NATO is simply the only such alliance. We need a defense alliance with nuclear powers. We need to concentrate all power resources, diplomatic resources on one thing. After the war, it is clear that war is key, it is a request for weapons, sanctions, support, and then, the fourth question, it is not just security guarantees, it is Ukrainian participation in an alliance that shares responsibility for defense. Otherwise, there will be no development of Ukraine,” Chaly said.
