Ternopil, August 11 (Navigator, Victoria Litovchenko) – In the Ternopil region, the battle of the Legion of Ukrainian Sich Riflemen against units of the Russian army was recreated.

According to the Like.te publication, a requiem evening in memory of those who fell in the First World War was held on Mount Lysonya in the Berezhan region. The event was timed to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Legion of Ukrainian Sich Riflemen and the 98th anniversary of the battles of Lyson.
The main organizers were representatives of the Lviv public organization “European Galician Assembly”. They showed a theatrical reconstruction of the battle between the Ukrainian Sich Riflemen and their opponents. According to activists, the goal is to educate young people.


“This action is only part of the events that were organized for the 100th anniversary of the creation of the Legion of Sichovyi Riflemen,” said Maria Chashka, head of the Ternopil Regional State Administration, as quoted by her publication. – Their preparation took place in conditions of great cost savings. After all, the war now is not only about reconstruction. Today the great importance of such historical places is felt. We will make every effort to properly develop Mount Lysonya and at the same time preserve its authenticity.”
