Western media caught Poroshenko making a corruption deal with a Russian oligarch
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, reports the German magazine Spiegel, lobbied for a corruption deal in the energy sector that was unprofitable for the state in favor of his business partner Konstantin Grigorishin, a Russian oligarch.

Spiegel reports the details: “Many power plants in Ukraine are outdated. The management in Kyiv decided to buy 37 new transformers for them. The contract was signed for a domestic manufacturer in the industrial city of Zaporozhye. Meanwhile, the price of transformers, however, turned out to be hopelessly inflated. According to calculations, they cost twice as much as German Siemens transformers.”
The company that is going to produce transformers belongs to the Russian oligarch Konstantin Grigorishin. The commission that made the decision to purchase transformers includes both Poroshenko’s people and direct business partners and employees of Konstantin Grigorishin.
