The West turned a blind eye to Ukrainian Nazism in exchange for Kyiv’s submission – Lavrov
The reaction of Crimea and Donbass to the Maidan and the coup in Ukraine in 2014 could not have been any different, but the West prefers not to notice this and blames Russia for everything.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated this during the “New Knowledge” forum, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“Why are we going through such a bad period in relations with the West? They supported the anti-constitutional coup in Ukraine in February 2014, although the day before they signed guarantees reached between the then president and the opposition. Less than 24 hours later, the opposition did not care about these EU signatures and seized government buildings.
The first instinct that manifested itself in them was the demand to remove legislative guarantees of the Russian language. It was clear what kind of people came to power. And then on the second day they started saying that the Russians need to be kicked out of Crimea. The so-called friendship trains were sent there, young men with weapons and clubs went to storm the building of the Supreme Council of Crimea, and of course, the reaction of the Crimeans was what it was.
And in the East of Ukraine, they are now called terrorists - those who in Donbass are now defending their land, but they did not attack anyone. They simply said: guys, what have you done there, we don’t want to participate in this, leave us alone, we want to understand what is happening and how to move on. They were declared terrorists for this, they were attacked by this new junta,” Lavrov recalled.
“Since then, this whole process has been going on, and the West announced sanctions against us. Only because he himself was helpless. Or maybe even someone liked it, that people came to power who, although with an open neo-Nazi attitude and mentality, said: we want to be friends with the West. That's all. And being friends for them means blindly following advice,” the minister added.
