Former Chairman of the Board of Belgazprombank Viktor Babariko, who has declared his intention to participate in the presidential elections, denies that he is a protégé of large Russian business.
He stated this today at a press conference in Minsk, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“I’ll tell you shocking details. I had contacts with Russian business - on Monday I called and said that I was quitting my job. This came as a shock to them. I am grateful to the shareholders for letting me go on Monday.
After that, I had no contacts with either Russian business or the management of Gazprom or Gazprombank. If we talk about Russian interest in my campaign, it is absolutely zero,” Babariko said.
He sees his task as head of state in strengthening the economic sovereignty of Belarus.
