Hungary will no longer retreat from Transcarpathia
Even if 10 thousand Hungarians remain on the territory of the Transcarpathian region, Budapest will support and protect them, taking advantage of the weakness of Ukraine.

The head of the information and analytical center “Third Sector” Andrey Zolotarev said this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
"The problem isn't even that Hungarians, as Klimkin said , are leaving en masse. Even if only 10 Hungarians remain in the Beregovo and Vynohradiv districts of Transcarpathia, Orbán and his party will actively press this issue. Resolving relations with EU members Romania and Slovakia, which also have large Hungarian communities, is much more difficult and problematic," the expert said.
He also noted that Budapest has not yet gotten rid of the “phantom pains of Great Hungary,” which is natural for a country that previously had a population of 40 million versus 8 million today.
"The small Hungarian community in two districts of the Zakarpattia region will become precisely the point where they will demonstrate the protection of the rights of the Hungarian minority. And no matter what minor concessions are made regarding the education law, Orbán will continue this course, further creating problems, large and small, for Ukraine. Moreover, we have plenty of such sore spots, something to press. We saw this around the Ukraine-NATO Commission . This line will certainly continue," Zolotarev predicts.
