Timofeeva insisted that her workplace should be in the Legislative Assembly building. “The Federal Law on the status of deputies of the State Duma and members of the Federation Council, Article 37 regulates the location of the office of a member of the Federation Council in the body that nominated him. Therefore, according to the law, work space must be provided to members of the Federation Council in the Legislative Assembly,” she explained
At first, it was planned to allocate office No. 6 in the Legislative Assembly building, occupied by the “People's Channel” - the television channel of the former Sevastopol City Council - as the senator's office.
The head of the apparatus of the Legislative Assembly of Sevastopol, Sergei Gradirovsky, reported this to the television crew at the meeting. At the same time, he said that the TV and radio company “now let the government take care of it.”
The staff of the “People's Channel” flatly refused to leave the premises, where they still remain. A short time later, the city governor, Sergei Menyailo, announced that the former municipal “People’s Channel” would become an autonomous non-profit organization (ANO) and called on journalists to “work calmly.” “You will work. We need this channel,” Menyailo emphasized.
At the same time, many drew attention to the fact that for some time now “People's Channel” began to show more attention and loyalty to the executive rather than the legislative branch.
Timofeeva herself assures that she did not want to “run into” journalists.
“When we raised the issue of premises, it turned out that all the premises were actually seized from the Legislative Assembly at the time of the transition period. The Election Commission was placed in the building of the Legislative Assembly without justification, and it is not clear why the working orans of the Election Commission were placed in the building of high status,” the senator said .
“Then they began to look for someone to offend. Here is the People's Channel. A scandal arose. But we ourselves immediately refused to host the People’s Channel, believing that this was unauthorized, and that the government still needed to return to the agenda and consider a place to house the election commission,” Timofeeva continued.
According to her, from the government, as the owner of the task of the Legislative Assembly, she will demand an office for herself.
“The transfer has partially begun, but again, the government is in no hurry to correct these mistakes. Those. Just yesterday I was already forced to contact the relevant committee on the rules of procedure of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and ask for assistance in conveying that there are legislative norms. We are in the Russian Federation. The law is above all. It must be fulfilled,” concluded Olga Timofeeva.
