“I think a lot of people don’t understand. I am sure that the initiative for the current offensive came from Donetsk. Moscow, in fact, is not interested in expanding the territory controlled by the LDPR: more territory means more population; production chains have been destroyed; a larger area will require more humanitarian aid (the militia is supplied separately). Plus sanctions.
On the other hand, Ukraine – also due to inescapable corruption – is spending huge amounts of money on the war in Donbass. Moreover, they are the same if the DPR-LPR controls the entire territory of the former Donetsk and Lugansk regions or one village of Kalinovka, which is near Makeevka.
Hence, only the DPR-LPR are interested in expanding the territory of the LDPR (I emphasize: VITALLY interested!). Not Moscow at all.
So I guess it was like this. The governments of the Republics have long insisted on an offensive. The Ukrainians, practically without reason, opened fire on Donetsk, abandoned the “Minsk format,” and Moscow said something along the lines of “Ok, guys! Want to? Advance! But ONLY BY YOUR OWN STRENGTH! We'll help. But only intelligence data, staff work. We will not allow Ukrainians to take Donetsk. And everything else is at your own peril and risk!”
And Zakhar and Plotnitsky went on the attack. In three diverging directions, with smaller forces against larger ones, with fewer artillery and tanks, against all laws of tactics, without tangible chances of success.
And the stupid West brought down a new wave of sanctions on the Russian Federation.

The Ukrainian armed forces today can be completely crushed and cease to exist as an Armed Forces. In this case, all roads in front of the BCH will be open at some point. In all directions!
