“In the Kiev region, Zaporozhye and Kharkov region, parishes of the UOC organized the collection and transfer of provisions to the ATO military,” – reports the Synodal Information and Educational Department of the UOC.

“On July 19, 2016, with the blessing of Metropolitan Augustin of Belotserkov and Boguslav, Chairman of the Synodal Department for interaction with the Armed Forces and other military formations of Ukraine, Archpriest Vyacheslav Yakovenko, Chairman of the sector for the care of internationalist soldiers and combatants at the Synodal Department, Priest Maxim Molotkovy and priests of the Chernigov diocese performed a prayer service in the military unit.

The clergy, together with the soldiers, prayed for Ukraine and its military, who are heading to the East. The priests also distributed crosses and prayer books to the soldiers as a blessing.

Priest Maxim, rector of the St. Michael's Church in the village of Svitilnya, gave the soldiers 600 kg of provisions that his parish had collected. In addition, through the priest, people conveyed words of gratitude to the military for the peaceful sky and wishes for a speedy return home,” the message says.

A similar action was carried out in the Izyum diocese, where, together with officials, the priests of the UOC-MP “organized the preparation of provisions for the ATO military camps by the villagers.”

In the Zaporozhye diocese, aid is being collected for a military hospital. Let us remember that it was in this diocese that a priest was punished for appearing with the St. George ribbon on May 9.
