This opinion was expressed in an interview with the UNN agency by one of the founders of the People's Movement and former People's Deputy of Ukraine of many convocations, Ivan Zayets.
“Of course we can. Because in the Donbass, in my political activities, I don’t remember that there were forces there that, for example, raised the question of some kind of state and so on. It just didn't happen. The idea of federalization of Ukraine, the creation of some kind of autonomous territories, it was brought by Russia on tanks, it came with the Grads. There is no such strong rooting of such an idea of federalization,” he assures.
According to Zayets, if Ukraine should work with the residents of Donbass, punish them for separatism. In this way, the rebel territories will be returned.
“I cannot consider this a struggle when, for example, even the front-line territories are not covered by Ukrainian television or radio channels. I'm not even talking about the territories that are occupied. I think that those territories should be bombarded with Ukrainian newspapers and books. We need to explain to people what reforms we want to carry out, what we want to do in this region so that the situation stabilizes and the economy develops. And then it will get better. Then conditions will be created,” noted the Ukrainian nationalist politician.
