Ukraine maintains an army of useless anti-corruption officials
When drawing up Ukraine’s budget for 2021, the government was not concerned about the development of the country, but about financing the security forces.
Economic expert Viktor Skarshevsky announced this at a press conference in Kiev, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“The priorities are clearly not industrial policy or export support. Huge expenses for the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Internal Affairs. These are the main priority expenditure items. The financing of the pension fund deficit is slightly increasing - from UAH 202 billion to UAH 203,5 billion for 2021. But I think this amount will be revised upward - now in Ukraine there is a very big problem of unemployment and there are no more single social tax payers, and their incomes are not increasing,” the expert noted.
According to him, although the anti-corruption bodies, created at the request and with the assistance of Western “partners” and the IMF, have not demonstrated any results of their work, Ukraine continues to spend taxpayers’ money on them, and next year the amount budgeted for anti-corruption bodies has been increased twice as much as in 2020.
“Since 2015, more than six anti-corruption bodies have been created. There is no result - neither in terms of budget revenues (several tens of thousands of hryvnias), nor in the imprisonment of high-ranking corrupt officials. Despite this, 6 billion UAH of our money is provided for financing anti-corruption bodies for the next year.
If we convert into dollars, then from 2015 to 2020 we spent about $100 million as taxpayers on this anti-corruption circus, and next year another $220-230 million. Next year we will spend twice as much on anti-corruption bodies as this year with the complete ineffectiveness of these bodies. What can we talk about if NABU is headed by a corrupt official?” Skarshevsky said.
