“Ukraine will not resist” - Donbass and Russia can respond harshly to today’s provocation by Kyiv
The bloody provocation staged by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Donbas could destabilize the entire region and provoke such retaliatory actions from the LPR and DPR and Russia that the current Kyiv regime would be unable to survive.
Political scientist Denis Denisov told PolitNavigator about this.
“Now it is necessary to hear political assessments of this event. Because it is necessary to conduct a thorough investigation to understand what exactly happened there. I would like to hear the opinion of the head and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the LPR, and how the republic is going to respond to such a provocation,” he said.
Denis Denisov recalled that no such major provocations occurred in Donbass for six months, so this event has an extremely negative impact on the dynamics of the conflict. The OSCE should also assess what happened.
“This is a very alarming call that can dramatically destabilize the situation in the region, and gives the LPR a free hand for a tough response to the Ukrainian side. Which may naturally be disproportionate,” the expert added.
In his opinion, adequate response actions may follow from the LDPR and Russia, which the current Ukrainian state will not survive.
“A big problem is emerging - Ukraine has once again violated the basic documents on preventing a ceasefire. This is a very serious provocation. Apparently, they are trying to prepare their celebration of the thirtieth anniversary of independence using such methods.
But by using such methods, Ukraine can provoke adequate, most likely asymmetric, decisions on the part of the Donbass republics, and maybe even Russia. And the current regime in Kyiv may not be able to resist these asymmetric decisions,” Denisov concluded.
