Ukraine has found its place in the world market: exporting honey and nuts
During 9 months of 2017, Ukraine exported a record 46,2 thousand tons of honey with a total value of $86,9 million, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

This is evidenced by data from the UN Food and Agriculture Organization.
The most Ukrainian honey was purchased by the USA ($23,2 million), Germany ($21,1 million) and Poland ($12,3 million). These countries account for more than 65% of Ukrainian honey exports.
“Almost all buyers increased imports, with the exception of Germany,” said FAO consultant Anna Burka.
In general, over the course of 5 years, Ukraine has increased honey exports 4 times and entered the top 5 global suppliers.
Other leaders in this market are China, Argentina, Vietnam and India. More than 50% of global honey purchases are made by EU countries. According to FAO, the global honey market is 1,6-1,7 million tons, of which 35-40% is exported. The global honey trade exceeds $2,2 billion.
In addition, it became known that Ukraine was among the top three world producers of nuts. In particular, according to the Ukrainian Agricultural Business Club association, Ukraine produces about 110 thousand tons of nuts. At the end of 2016, Ukraine exported 27 thousand tons of shelled nuts worth $65 million.
The main market for Ukrainian walnuts is the market of Asia and Europe. The main export item to European countries is shelled walnuts. Supplies of these products during this period increased by 16% and in 2016 exports amounted to almost 7 thousand tons, which in monetary terms is $25 million. Thus, Ukraine is the fourth largest supplier of nuts to the EU, second only to the USA, Moldova and Chile. .
