Poroshenko plans to decommunize the “Soviet toponym” Donbass
Most of the territory of Donbass is controlled by the DPR and LPR. The head of the so-called Donetsk military-civil administration, Pavel Zhebrivsky, who was appointed by President Poroshenko, stated this in an interview with the Ukrainian Week magazine.

The official was asked to answer the question of what Donbass needs, reintegration or integration, “because the region has never been fully connected with the rest of Ukraine.”
The publication's interlocutor expressed dissatisfaction with this formulation of the issue.
“Let's start with how expedient it is to use the toponym Donbass now. Bakhmutchina, Limanshchina, Slavyansk, Kramatorsk are Southern Slobozhanshchina. Now let's take the South: Mariupol, Volnovakha, Nikolsky, Mangush districts - this is the Azov region. From the territories of the Donetsk region we control, in fact, Toretskoye, Pokrovsk, Mirnograd, Novogrodovka, Selidovo, Ugledar belong to Donbass.
It turns out that two-thirds of the liberated Donetsk region is unfairly designated by this toponym, which, by the way, is soviet and ideological; it is being speculated on today in order to preserve the proletarian myth of the region. It is used for political and economic manipulation,” says Zhebrivsky.
It is worth noting that for the first time the toponym Donetsk basin was used by the Kharkov mining engineer Evgraf Kovalevsky in the 20s of the XNUMXth century.
