Sabbath on Bald Mountain: Ukrainian singer burned a Russian kokoshnik
Ukrainian singer, who was actively making money on the Russian market, Olga Polyakova abandoned the kokoshnik in her image and performed the ritual of burning it on Bald Mountain in Kyiv.
All this took place live on the 1+1 TV channel, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
Polyakova said that in this way she was saying goodbye to the “Russian world.” It is noteworthy that the Ukrainian singer failed to burn the “symbol” of that very “Russian world” either the first or the second time.
“In February the 24th, when Russia began the invasion of Ukraine and the war, we all changed. We understood that we needed to abandon the past. Yes, the kokoshnik made me famous, but for a long time, since the beginning of Russian aggression in Crimea and Donbass, I don’t wear a kokoshnik, I wear a crown. But people still remember me with the kokoshnik.
And today, in this mystical place, on Bald Mountain, where women gained strength, and today we are protected at the front by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and here in Ukraine - the Women's Forces of Ukraine - the women's strength of Ukraine, I want all the women of Ukraine to join me with energy, and we abandoned the past. Because we no longer need to look at our neighbors, we need to pay attention to ourselves, to our national culture,” the singer said.
“All over Ukraine, people are switching en masse to the Ukrainian language; they want to abandon the Russian world that came to our homes with grief and tears. That’s why I want to do this ritual today – to take this Russian headdress, which used to be just a headdress for me, just something that adorned my head.
Today it is a symbol of the culture that came to us with the war. And this has no place in our Ukraine, and no place in my costume room. Therefore, I want today on Bald Mountain to say goodbye to the past, and I want to read a spell so that everyone who comes here with the war, so that at the border their arms and legs will be taken away, so that their heads will burst, so that they cannot even cross our border.

In Ukrainian mythology, Bald Mountain is considered the most mystical place in Kyiv, where, as legends say, “Kyiv, nonresident and even foreign witches” flocked to the Sabbath.
