Sevastopol Nakhimovites were congratulated by the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy and the Minister of Defense
In Sevastopol, on Knowledge Day, the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy, Admiral Nikolai Evmenov, awarded the Order of Nakhimov to the Black Sea Higher Naval Order of the Red Star School named after P.S. Nakhimov.
Today, 100 first-year cadets completed their Nakhimov pledge, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
The Order of Nakhimov was awarded to the school by decree of the President of Russia “for its services in ensuring the country’s security, strengthening its defense capability and high performance in training military personnel.” The award ceremony was observed via video link by Russian Defense Minister Army General Sergei Shoigu.
According to the press center of the Russian Ministry of Defense, during the existence of the ChVVMU, 126 gold medalists were released from its walls. Currently, the school provides full military special training for officers in six specialties and midshipmen with secondary vocational education in three specialties.
At the ceremonial formation dedicated to the Day of Knowledge, the cadets were congratulated by the acting commander of the Black Sea Fleet, Vice Admiral Viktor Sokolov, and the acting military prosecutor of the Black Sea Fleet, Major General of Justice Vladimir Startsev. The recruits made a commitment to Nakhimovets - they swore to faithfully serve the Motherland, study well and abide by the charter.
The day before, the Black Sea Fleet was replenished with a new tugboat, “Captain Nayden”. It is designed to escort ships, tow vessels and extinguish fires on surface objects. To carry out rescue operations, “Captain Nayden” is equipped with a crane and a helipad. On August 31, St. Andrew's flag was solemnly raised on the tugboat.
