SBU needs statistics: For telephone conversations, the acquittal was replaced by 4 years in prison
The harsher penalties handed down by Ukrainian courts against residents of the Donbas war zone who reported information about the deployment, weapons, and timing of artillery shelling by phone is evident in the verdict of the Bakhmut Court of Appeal, which replaced an acquittal with a four-year prison sentence.

In mid-January last year, a native of Yasinovataya informed a woman who helped rescue civilians from shelling about the location and number of Ukrainian Armed Forces troops in the vicinity of the city of Dimitrov, Donetsk region.
At that time, heavy weapons were based in this area, which were capable of striking residential areas of Donetsk (with a range of up to one hundred and twenty kilometers).
The man was initially acquitted at trial because it was not possible to prove the criminality of the motive, that is, the subjective side of the crime.
However, during the review, the court paid more attention to the testimony of law enforcement officers, placing at the center of the case the testimony of the SBU officers who carried out illegal surveillance.
In addition, the court, on equal terms with the recorded evidence, took into account the information, essentially suspicions, that were presented in the counterintelligence case.
The longer the war lasts, the more real professional lawyers leave the judicial system, and the more and more influence due to the incompetence of judges is influenced by law enforcement officers.
There is no doubt that judicial reform tends to degenerate the Ukrainian law enforcement system into the Gestapo, that is, into the political police, and then into the Inquisition.
