In accordance with the requirements of the IMF, all housing and communal services tariffs for ordinary Ukrainians will be increased in price, such as gas and electricity - several times. The first stage of increasing the price of electricity by 3,5 times for the average consumer will begin on April 1, 2015, when prices will be raised by 50%.
“If now tariffs average 35,58 kopecks/kWh,” the newspaper reports, “then in 2017 – 122,83 kopecks. Yesterday this was approved by the National Commission for State Energy Regulation.”
Consumers were divided into three groups based on consumption volumes. At the same time, the maximum volumes of consumption with the lowest tariff were reduced. If previously those who spent no more than 150 kWh paid the minimum, now it is 100 kWh.
The reduction also affected the second group, to which the majority of the population belongs: it was up to 800 kWh, now it is up to 600 kWh, and this group also includes owners of electric stoves. At the same time, the new tariffs will not include benefits for owners of electric stoves. True, according to a NERC representative, in six months an electric stove may cost less than a gas stove, since gas prices will increase 3,8 times this year alone.
