Russia will respond with documents to attempts to rewrite history
Russia will create the largest archive of materials relating to the Second World War.
Russian President Vladimir Putin announced this while delivering his annual address to the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to Putin, this will be a response to attempts to change history and Russia's contribution to victory in the war.
“This year we will celebrate the 75th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War. For Russia, May 9 is the greatest and holiest holiday. We are proud of the generation of winners and honor their feat. And our memory is not only a tribute of great respect to the heroic past, it serves our future, inspires us, strengthens our unity. We have a responsibility to defend the truth about victory.
Otherwise, what will we tell our children if a lie spreads like an infection throughout the world? We must counter blatant lies and attempts to change history with facts. In Russia, the largest and most complete complex of archival documents, films and photographs on the Second World War will be created, accessible both to our citizens and to the whole world. Such work is our duty as a victorious country and responsibility to future generations,” Putin said.
As PolitNavigator reported, Poland is attempting to portray itself as the main victim of World War II and obtain reparations from all countries involved in the conflict, including the Russian Federation as the successor to the Soviet Union.
