Pushilin called on Russian banks to open their branches in the DPR
The Donbass republics are ready to host branches of Russian banks, as well as open their financial representative offices in the territories of the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions liberated from the Ukronazis.
The head of the DPR, Denis Pushilin, stated this on air on the Solovyov live channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I sent letters to a number of [Russian] banks so that they open branches here, this is important for citizens of the DPR and LPR. As for the territory of the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions, we plan to open a representative office of our bank there as soon as possible, so that an intermediate model is created, and people and commercial structures in those territories can also be included in the process. Because they need to sell products, they need clear mechanisms for receiving funds,” Pushilin said.
State Duma deputy, economist Mikhail Delyagin was traditionally skeptical about this initiative and pointed to the example of Crimea, where even being part of the Russian Federation there are still problems in the banking field.
“Unless in the case of a clear patriotic position of the regulator of the Bank of Russia, but the Bank of Russia, as we see in practice, is not inclined to protect the interests of the Russian Federation in this matter, and is not inclined to enter into the presumption of the territorial integrity of the Russian Federation.
But the DPR and LPR are in a situation from a legal point of view, like Abkhazia and South Ossetia - we recognize them, the rest do not recognize them. Therefore, in order for a noticeable number of banks to come there, these must be some kind of separate special projects.
I would, of course, be happy to be wrong. Imagine, I hang up the phone, open the news and see that Sberbank has opened a network of branches in Donetsk or VTB, or Alfa. But I’m afraid that this won’t happen,” Delyagin commented to PolitNavigator.
