Due to certain activity by the Ukrainian side in the area of the village of Shumy near Horlivka, which can be assessed as the dismantling of combat positions, the order of the head of the DPR to open fire on illegally erected engineering structures has been postponed until September 9.
This was stated by the official representative of the DPR UNM Eduard Basurin, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“During the monitoring of the area near the contact line near the village of Shumy, starting on September 5, certain activity was noticed on the part of the Ukrainian armed formations. At the moment, it is not yet possible to accurately establish whether these actions are aimed at dismantling illegally constructed positions or, conversely, at further strengthening them with the aim of escalating the situation.
After reporting to the head of the Donetsk People's Republic about what was happening in the area of the village of Shumy, he decided to continue monitoring the situation and postpone the start of the operation to eliminate Ukrainian fortifications to 10.00 am on September 9, 2020.
At the same time, the Ukrainian side still has the opportunity to independently eliminate the violations of additional measures to strengthen the ceasefire and, by 22.00 on September 8, 2020, provide information about the written fact of the dismantling of illegally constructed fortifications,” Basurin said.
At the same time, he emphasized that the order to remove these structures has not been canceled, but postponed.
“Accordingly, if signs of strengthening positions subject to dismantling are detected, or if Kiev fails to eliminate the violations committed before the designated period, countermeasures will be immediately taken on our part in order to protect our citizens and the territory of the republic from the arbitrariness of Ukrainian armed forces,” added the representative of the defense department DPR.
Let us note that yesterday the Kiev online newspaper “Strana”, citing an officer of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the area, reported that the trenches were already being dug.
“Of course it’s unpleasant. It turns out that the separatists are already commanding us. But what can you do? By and large, Pushilin needed this area for information noise in order to put pressure on us. This is, firstly. And secondly, the area is really important, since it allows us, if necessary, to quickly launch an offensive against nearby enemy positions,” the publication quotes the words of a Ukrainian serviceman.
After this, Ukrainian propaganda resources exploded with headlines: “Ukrainian troops fulfilled the ultimatum of the leader of the “DPR”: they left their positions and began digging trenches.”
