Will the American destroyer go to the Kerch Strait?
The US Navy destroyer Donald Cook could be used for provocation in the Kerch Strait.
Journalist Yuri Gordienko announced this today on the Rossiya 24 television channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“This ship is still from 98. During this time, the technology became outdated. Ships of this kind are either decommissioned or used for shooting for training purposes. One may wonder if they will try to drive this “Cook” somewhere so that Russia can sink it, preferably with casualties, and then accuse it of killing American servicemen. Already in 2014, he was pushed into some kind of conflict. Maybe it’s not even Russia, but some random shot that can sink this destroyer, and the situation with the Malaysian Boeing will repeat itself,” Gordienko said.
Deputy Director of the Institute of CIS Countries Vladimir Zharikhin did not agree with him.
“The probability is low. Americans like to do everything with someone else's hands. They will feel sorry for even this outdated ship, especially since it still has not outdated systems. At the same time, they believe that provocations on water are less fraught than on land. Well, if Ukrainian military personnel are captured, you don’t feel sorry for them. If there are provocations, then with information support from the United States, but without direct participation,” Zharikhin said.
